On termine avec un steeple pour trois ans, qui découvrent tous la discipline. On pourrait bien voir un très bon élément s’imposer dans cette ultime rendez-vous car le lot est très intéressant. David Cottin semble voir Swiss Guard comme un excellent poulain, ne tarissant pas d’éloges à son sujet. Pour ses débuts à Auteuil, le cheval s’est très bien comporté, échouant d’une tête pour la victoire, dans un lot qui a répété. Le voilà maintenant sur le steeple, mais il semble taillé pour la discipline. Il a beaucoup d’atouts dans son jeu.
Pourtant, la partie n’est pas gagnée d’avance. Avec notamment La Danza, qui a plus d’expérience et dont la qualité est indéniable. Cette pouliche a couru dans des épreuves bien composées cette année et vient de s’imposer à Auteuil. Pour son premier essai sur les gros, on s’attend à la voir lutter pour les premières places. Plaisant à Nantes, malgré une faute qui aurait pu lui coûter cher, Heloy Delabarrière, est un élément d’avenir qui devrait parfaitement se plaire sur le steeple. Attention à lui comme aux deux pensionnaires de Guillaume Macaire, Enki The Best, qui manque un peu de vitesse sur les balais mais bon sauteur, ainsi que Apple’s Pierro, dont on attendait monts et merveilles lors de ses deux premiers parcours. Il n’a pas forcément répondu aux attentes, mais le poulain progresse gentiment et devrait encore être meilleur sur un parcours sélectif. Mieux vaut l’avoir avec soi dans un choix. On retiendra d’ailleurs les trois éléments de l’écurie royannaise, qui présente également Herogador, un cheval sérieux qui est sans doute limité pour les premières places ici mais qui sera en embuscade en cas de défaillances. Pour compléter ce choix, on citera Very Nice Surf, sérieux pour s’imposer lors de ses débuts à Fontainebleau et Ouessant, qui n’a certainement pas encore tout montré.
